The Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology awarded Crystal Industrial the status of Research and Development Center. Our R&D department was established 8 years ago and has completed over 300 projects – from improving energy efficiency and performance in current products to developing new ranges.
With a dedicated team of engineers and consultants, Crystal currently has a scope of 30 projects per year and is on the way to developing its own patent. Besides, we are working along the Turkish government on three undertakings. “Our R&D has the capability to improve all kinds of cooling equipment, mastering the technology and the philosophy behind it. We have also set up a software which displays the airflow inside different types of refrigerators, allowing us to address issues as equal distribution of air and temperature differences. This is one of our biggest advantage against competitors” says Eng. Halit Dağlı, R&D general manager.
R&D Centers in Turkey
The Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology defines Research & Development centers as units, which are organised as separate departments within an organisation. It should employ at least 30 full-time equivalent R&D personnel to exclusively conduct domestic research and development activities. Other required conditions include R&D management capability regarding technological assets, intellectual property, and information resources.
According to Eng. Ramazan Kaynakci, Crystal Industrial’s general manager, “We invest in R&D to create new and innovative products, as well as add features to existing products. It requires continuous learning, but competition for a business means reassessing and readjusting business plans. R&D also connects various parts of our strategy, such as marketing and cost reduction. It’s hard for a company to remain competitive if it does not stay ahead of the technology curve”.
Crystals’ R&D pays close attention to three areas: user-friendliness, equipment sturdiness, and quality of components. Mr Halit informs “We invest heavily in high-quality materials, and constantly check our customers’ needs. Having our own five-star hotel brand makes it easier to maintain an ongoing feedback channel with head chefs. We’re able to check their needs, discuss products and features and test effectively”.
“There are two possible ways: one is to follow what the others are doing and another is to pave the way and create something unique. Some companies are technology leaders, while others are simply followers. We want to remain as leaders”, finishes Halit.
